The Borneo Jazz Festival (previously known as the Miri International Jazz Festival) is a superb attraction for the northern region of Sarawak. Jazz has international appeal and regional influence with a strong but niche following in both listenership and festival attendance. While the jazz genre of music would be seen as traditionally only for the well-heeled and older generation of jazz aficionados, there is a tremendous explosion of this genre catering to the young elite and Gen Z and Y who dabble in alternative music as a medium to reach and appeal to their lifestyles.
